The Toystore of Coralie Clement

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Indie-folk atmosphere with refined echoes of Brazil. Songs almost whispered in the language of Moliere by a female voice weak and conturbante. Timeless atmosphere, somewhere between 1963 and 2008. Clear influences of fathers and mothers of the noble French song (Gainsbourg and Hardy in the first place). A small corner of Italy.

No, we are not talking about Madame Bruni - Sarkozy. But another “relative” and famous lanciatissima. His name is Coralie Clément and many perhaps if the recall for an album a few years ago (Salle des pas perdus, 2002) and a delightful songs that often spent the night in the programming of MTV and Radio Monte Carlo (L’ombre et la lumiere).

the original duo in November in Italy., Video, Indies, Concerts & Festivals, concert, dodos, fools, new disc, new tour, the dodos, visiter

We had yet spoken from The Dodos and I believe it is for me to do so, with that their name that reminds me of something! There are two but often filled with sounds from their songs sound like a complete band. Coming from San Francisco: Meric Long and Logan Kroeber, respectively voice and guitar-the first bold, drums and percussion-ceaseless the second.

They have something in common with the White Stripes? No, if not for the training guitar-drums and percussionist despite the arrivals dall’hard rock: their approach is decidedly folk. But playing a little ‘with different kinds, sometimes beating African rhythms are also creating atmospheres almost psychedelic.

Their second album released some months is entitled “Visiter.” The piece that feels the most is “Fools”: find the video after the jump. It seems that give the most out alive. The opportunity to have the confirmation we November 26, their only Italian date the Casa 139 in Milan. To look a little ‘in their music I refer you to the official myspace.

Who knows if Radioclit knew, and recorded the song, that the two friends within a few months would become international stars. Probably not, but will have made a leap from the chair remembering that song, perhaps for months parked in an archive. Fortunati the two boys, right?
