Jay-Z and the Hip Hop at Glastonbury, an outbreak of controversy
The Glastonbury Festival is a cornerstone of European summer circuit, which attracts around the British host hundreds of thousands of spectators from all over the continent. There is only music but also dance, cabaret, theatre and circus performances, the concerts are without doubt the highlight of the rich billboard, and year after year more and more artists choose to perform on one of the many stages of Glasto.
On the eve of ‘2008 edition is animated by a controversy involving large pieces of music-biz and triggered a chain reaction. The spark that inflamed the minds is the participation at as headliner of rapper Jay-Z: according to some the presence of a hip hop artist is inappropriate, little suited to the context and the rest of the cast, which has always been oriented sounds of mould rock.
Spokesman of the discontented became Noel Gallagher of Oasis, which with the frankness that distinguishes it has ruled: “Glastonbury has a certain tradition of guitar-music, I do not understand the choice of organizers. We see their hip-hop at the festival, is wrong. ”
Jay-Z did not take it well at all, felt offended and started to counterattack.
